Share the Season is an annual campaign that offers one-time aid to people affected by unforeseen hardships. The people are not identified to protect their privacy.
This couple got behind on bills when the man was laid off.
The woman worked as many hours as she could to offset the loss of his paycheck.
They turned to family and friends to avoid using payday loans.
“My husband recently got a job, but the creditors are not willing to wait for their money,” the woman said. “A gift from Share the Season would be a tremendous help. I am very limited on support and it can be very challenging in times of need and hardship.
She said help from Share the Season would allow her to keep her car and give her transportation to work.
“I would like to say thank you to the donors and workers that make the Share the Season Program possible,” she said. “Programs like this give people like us some much needed hope.”
Share the Season is a joint project of The Eagle, the Wichita Community Foundation and the Salvation Army.
So far this season, it has raised more than $62,000.
