Breads, muffins and other baked goods were on sale Monday at The Hub on Smith Street in this year’s effort to raise funds for the support of those living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia and their caregivers.
Stella Montano, who’s director of The Hub’s Family Caregiver Services, said the sale is in conjunction with the Alzheimer’s Association’s annual Longest Day fundraiser.
Montano, who is a member of the board of the Wyoming Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, said the local caregivers support group annually has held a bake sale and an Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk, but a decision was made not to have a walk this year because so much else is happening.
But, she said, staff and volunteers are selling baked goods that were donated not only by caregivers but by staff and others. She said the bake sale was advertised from 10 a.m. til 1 p.m. Monday, but in fact, people started showing up at 8 and 9 a.m.
She said all funds raised go to the Wyoming Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, so the money is used to support people in Wyoming.
