DENVER, Colo (WTHR) – Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed a bill into law this past week that guarantees residents with diabetes will not have to pay more than $100 a month for their insulin.

HB19-1216 charges the department of law with investigating price hikes and reporting to the governor, the commissioner of insurance and the judiciary committees of the senate and house.

“For Coloradans living with Type 1 Diabetes, insulin is essential to their survival – it is the same as oxygen,” State Rep. Dyland Roberts told KUSA. “With this new law, Coloradans will no longer be forced to choose between this life-saving and life-sustaining drug and their other expenses.”
