A competitive dancer who struggled to wear makeup and leave the house due to her painful eczema has claimed a £12.50 cream has ‘revolutionised her life.’

Erin Grace Cooke, 18, from Hertfordshire, told how she’s suffered with painful eczema for as long as she can remember.

The dancer, who was the winner of this year’s American National and 3rd in the World Dance Championships, had ‘tried everything’ after being prescribed creams from her doctor.

While nothing worked and if anything, would calm her eczema for a day or two before it came back, she found an unlikely solution in the form of a natural balm from Australian brand, MooGoo.

‘I really suffer with eczema on my arms, knees, eyelids, chin and neck,’ explained Erin. ‘I find it hard to wear makeup, especially as a dancer when I need to wear for the stage as my skin is literally flaking off underneath.’

Erin started dancing at an after school club when she was five, and by the time she’d reached 11 she’d won her first regional title and went on to get top five at every other major competition.

‘For dancing, I have to wear heavy makeup for eight hours or more,’ she said. ‘Before discovering the skincare range I would dread putting makeup on.’

‘It used to really get me down and be an added thing I needed to think about on top of competitions and life in general.’

Then one night Erin’s sister asked her to go out for dinner with their friends. However, her skin was so sore she couldn’t go, and that’s when she decided enough was enough.

‘I felt so sad to be missing out – as I had done on previous occasions – because my skin was so sore,’ she explained.

‘Unless you suffer from sore skin, it is difficult to communicate the impact it can have on something as simple as going out for dinner.’

She continued: ‘My skin felt so tight and I just knew I wouldn’t enjoy it when I was out and the painful skin wouldn’t be worth it when I got home, particularly on my face.’

Erin was searching online for possible cures when she came across a review on YouTube of Australian brand MooGoo creams for eczema.

‘I thought I would give it a go, searched the website and found a stockist nearby,’ she said.

‘It is hands down the best cream I have ever used, and I have tried everything I can find.’

Now, Erin uses £12.50 MooGoo Irritable Skin Balm, a natural steroid alternative, which is available from the retailer’s website, Wholefoods and local pharmacies nationwide including Lloyds.

It contains natural oils to improve the skin barrier function combined with natural anti-inflammatory ingredients to help soothe problematic, dry, itchy skin.

She also applies MooGoo Soothing MSM Moisturiser £12 – a lightweight moisturiser containing sweet almond oil, coconut oil and 10% MSM (organic suplur), a natural skin soothing compound.

‘I used to need to apply cream constantly throughout the day,’ said Erin. ‘With MooGoo, I apply morning and evening. I can wear makeup and it stays on, which is a game changer for me.’

She added: ‘I used to dread flying, which I do as part of my job, as my skin would get so tight and dry from the airplanes, on top of the challenge of wearing makeup.’

‘I used to have to take my makeup off before every flight.’

‘The first time I flew since using the product I was so tired, I didn’t take my makeup off before takeoff.

‘I fell asleep by accident and was amazed when I woke up my skin and makeup was still perfect. This would have never happened before.’

THE MAN BEHIND THE MIRACLE MOOGOO PRODUCTS

Craig Jones hit upon his lightning-bolt idea when his mother started using a balm that is sometimes applied to cows’ udders if they are chafed from milking.

What if the former RAAF pilot could take the ‘thick, pasty cream’ his mother was using for her psoriasis and turn it into a marketable product for men, women and children with eczema and skin problems?

Former pilot, Craig Jones (pictured), came up with his idea when his mother was struggling with psoriasis and started using udder cream for cows to help her skin

According to Craig, from New South Wales, when his mum started using udder balm to relieve her psoriasis, he knew there was something in the idea:

‘It was super thick and pasty, so I took a tub home and learned how to make it so that it absorbed much more quickly,’ he told FEMAIL.

‘Before we even started selling it, I began calling the brand ‘Moogoo’ and dubbed the lotion ‘Udder Cream’. It sounded a bit crass to my mother, but friends would drop by and take some home in their own little jars.

‘Eventually, I realised I was spending a lot of time making the product and so I quit my day job as a pilot in the RAAF.’

Today, Craig’s skin products – including creams for eczema, shampoos for people with scalp problems and natural deodorants – retail in 2,500 pharmacies around the world, and countless different countries.

Turnover is estimated at $20 million, and an eczema cream sells every two minutes.
